Arlene Byal, 63, of 714 W. 8th St. N. died this morning, Feb. 23, at the Skiff Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Arlene Mae Dennis Byal, 63, of 714 W. 8th St. N., a lifelong resident of Newton, died of heart failure Thursday morning, Feb. 23, at the Skiff Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors are a daughter, Judy Cupples (Mrs. Dan) Shea of Newton; and a sister, Thelma Strawser of Austin, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roger, Feb. 22, 1976, a brother, Norman Dennis, and a sister, Eleanor Lane.

Mrs. Byal, a supervisor of transcribing at the Newton Manufacturing Co. at the time of her retirement, was a member of the First United Methodist Church, for which she served on the administrative board, Business and Professional Women and the 25-Year Retirement Club of Newton Manufacturing Co.

The daughter of Alfred and Sadie Schultz Dennis, she was born Feb. 28, 1925 in Newton and was a 1942 graduate of Newton Community High School.

She was married to Roger Rippey Byal Feb. 8, 1947 in Kansas City, Kan.
