BOONE – Ken Beverlin, 48, of 311 S. Aurora, a former head football coach in Newton and the athletic director at Boone High School, was killed in an automobile accident on Interstate 35 Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church at Boone.

He is survived by his wife, Merry Beverlin, of Boone.

Beverlin was head football coach in Newton from 1970 to 1972.

A student-athlete memorial scholarship has been set up in Beverlin’s name. Memorials may be sent to Boone High School or Starkwellin Funeral Home.
