OLDSMAR, Fla. -- Geraldine Martha Messenger, former Newton resident, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, after suffering a stroke on Dec. 28, 2004.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Feb. 5 at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Curlew Hills Memorial Gardens in Palm Harbor, Fla. In lieu of flowers, friends who desire to make a donation in her memory may send them to Morton Plant Mease Hospital Foundation, 1200 Druid Rd. S., Clearwater, Fla. 33756.

Mrs. Messenger was an active volunteer at the Mease Hospitals in Countryside and Dunedin, Calif., and had many friends through her volunteer work.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Hotard of Norwalk, Conn.; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Anne of Germantown, Tenn., and Scott and Diane Laforge of Tottenham, Ontario; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Kay Stearns of Lake Jackson, Texas; a brother-in-law; sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Maurie.
