LYNNVILLE — Velva V. Meredith, 97, of Lynnville died Thursday, June 16, 2005, at Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Lynnville Friends Church.
Burial will be at Sully Cemetery. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be available from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Lynnville Friends Church or to the Lynnville Historical Society.

The daughter of Stoffel and Bertha (Leanheart) Vander Pol, she was born March 12, 1908, in the Lynnville area. On March 11, 1928, she married Marshall G. Meredith in Lynnville. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of the Lynnville area.

Mrs. Meredith was a member of the Lynnville Friends Church and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She also was a member of Missionary Society and Lynnville Historical Society. She enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Survivors include a son, Bruce (Virginia) Meredith of Newton; two daughters, Lois Witzky and friend Jerry Carpenter of El Paso, Texas, and Irma (Dale) Jansen of Pella; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Meredith of Grinnell; one grandchild; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Ervin and one in infancy; two brothers, Wendell and Lewis Vander Pol; and a sister, Muriel Vander Pol.
