Charles H. Lust, 84, of Newton, died Saturday, February 5, 2005, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 09, 2005 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

The son of Charles and Eva (Richards) Lust, he was born April 16, 1920, in Colfax.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1938 - 1945 during WWII. Before and after serving in the Navy, Chuck worked in the factory at the Maytag Company as a Tool and Die maker, retiring in 1976. On February 21, 1943, he married Leona M. Hopkins in Newton. He later married Nina Bennett on June 10, 1989, in Newton.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1655 in Newton and was active for years in the Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball; where he had served a term as President of Little League. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Those left to honor Chuck's memory are his daughter, Mary Ann Hoelscher of Newton; son, Larry Lust of Newton; his step-daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Loren (Mike) Mickelson of Newton; step-son and daughter-in-law, Melvin (Butch) and Jana Lust of Newton; his 3 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; his 5 step-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Hopkins of Colfax, Iowa and Donna Lust of Newton, Iowa; and his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, and a brother, Robert Lust.
