CRETE, Neb. — Charles H. Luing, 63, of Crete, Neb., formerly of Baxter, died in Nebraska on Wednesday, May 25, 2005.

Following cremation, memorial services were held Saturday at Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial will follow services at Restland Cemetery in Baxter. Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter handled arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in his name to the American Cancer Society.

He is the son of William Luing and Rosamond Luing-Quinnett and the step-son of Wilford Quinnett. He worked for Hiland Potato Chip Company in Des Moines for more than 18 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, hunting and NASCAR.

Survivors include two sons, Danny (Debbie) Luing and Patrick Luing, all of Crete; daughters, Julie (Monte) McCann of Des Moines and Lynette (Shad) Marvelli of Newton; former wife, Karen Luing of Baxter; a brother, Danny R. (Eva) Luing of Baxter; sisters, Pattie Luce and Maxine (Joe) Thomas, all of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, brothers, Howard Luing, Ernest Luing; and a sister, Wanda Luing-Harris.
