BAXTER – Edna L. Hood Clement, 78, of Colonial Manor in Baxter, a former resident of Newton, died Saturday, Jan 13, at the Manor of a stroke.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Newton Community Reformed Church.

The rev. Gordon Adams of the Vision Foundation Ministries of Knoxville, Tenn., will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence funeral Home in Newton after 3 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the church or to the Jasper County Senior Citizens will be accepted.

Survivors are two daughters, Connie L. Erickson of Newton and Roberta Clement of Springfield, Mo.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vivian (Mrs. Clarence) Stevens of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, Jan. 3, 1980, a daughter, Luise Warrick, five brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Clement was a member of the Newton Community Reformed Church, an honorary member of the Reformed Church Women, a Sunday school teacher, a RSVP volunteer and a member of the Jasper County Senior Citizens and the kitchen band.

She had been employed by Stanley Home Products for 20 plus years, for Spencer Corsittier for 20 plus years and was employed by Dooley Music Store and Mattingly’s Music Store until her retirement.

The daughter of Mahlon and Delia Holman Hood, she was born March 20, 1911 at Massena.

She was married to Robert D. Clement July 3, 1941 in Bethany, Mo.

Mrs. Clement moved to Newton from Dexter-Redfield area in 1959. ~ The Newton Daily News, Jan 15, 1990
