MONROE — Helen Marie Lewis, 85 of Monroe died Monday, May 23, 2005, at Hospice of Pella Comfort House.

Memorial services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at Gifford Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. The family has designated that memorials be given to the Hospice of Pella Comfort House.

The daughter of Lloyd and Ethel (Moore) Hamilton, she was born May 11, 1920, in Centerville. She graduated from Mercer High School in Mercer, Mo., in 1938. On April 25, 1942, she married Charles H. Lewis Jr. in Princeton, Mo. She moved to Monroe in 1943.

Mrs. Lewis worked for American Equity Insurance as a special services representative until poor health forced her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed her career.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda (William Sr.) Bennett of Monroe; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; an infant daughter, Janet; a son, Keith; and a brother, Marvin.
