Eailena M. Lawson, 80, of Newton died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services were held today at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Al Sandlin of Joliet, Ill., officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Lipp Cemetery in Unionville, Mo.

Memorials will be accepted in her name and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Orpha A. Chrisman, she was born Jan. 4, 1925, in Stahl, Mo. She graduated from Greencastle High School in Greencastle, Mo., in 1947. On May 31, 1946, she married Cecil A. Lawson in Leavenworth, Kan. She was a bookkeeper in the office of Wonder Bread Bakery in Davenport, and she attended the First Assembly of God Church in Newton. She has been a resident of Newton since the late 1950s.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, P. Janette and Larry Hughes of Conrad; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Rebecca Lawson of Santa Ana, Calif.; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Barbara Patterson of Novinger, Mo.; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Alice L. West of Kirksville, Mo., Mary Durham of Winfield, Betty and Edwin Jacobs and Rebecca Summers, all of Unionville, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Nora Williamson of Reasnor; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
