Joyce Warren Klepinger, 102, of Newton died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Linda Butler of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Newton and the Rev. Merle Smith, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Chariton Cemetery in Chariton.

Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family will greet friends in the social room of the funeral home immediately following the service. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County or to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League and Humane Society and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Clinton and Maude (Gamble) Klepinger, he was born Sept. 2, 1902, in Essex. He graduated from Essex High School. On May 22, 1938, he married Dorothy Louise Stuart in Chariton. He was an owner/manager of the Brown's Shoe Fit Company in Chariton for more than 40 years and retired in 1963. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and a past member of Chariton Rotary Club. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard and on his home. He also enjoyed working on projects with his sons. He lived in Chariton for many years and moved to Newton in 1970.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Adrian R. Klepinger of Bedford, David S. Klepinger of Newton and Nick and Linda Klepinger of Reasnor; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Forest and Gwen Klepinger of Omaha, Neb., and Wayne Klepinger of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, Glen Klepinger.
