Kenneth R. Hollingsworth, 82, of Monroe died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe, where family members will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be given to the Kenneth R. Hollingsworth Memorial Fund.

The son of Ralph and Bessie (McReynolds) Hollingsworth, he was born Jan. 29, 1923. Mr. Hollingsworth was a resident of central Iowa his entire life. He lived in Rising Sun, Red Rock and Monroe. On June 14, 1947, he married to JoAnna Nimmo in Monroe. He was a member of the American Legion of Monroe and the VFW.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Steve Kern; two grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sabra Schippers and Sara and Dave Hawkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scott Hollingsworth; and a sister, Thelma DeGeus.
