LINCOLN, Neb. -- Beulah Mae (Still) Hofmann died of cancer Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Tabitha Hospice in Lincoln, Neb. Funeral services were held Monday.

The daughter of Roy L. and Gladys (McWhinney) Still, she was born in Clarinda. She moved with her family to Newton when she was a small child. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1934 and began her professional career at United Telephone Company. She later worked as a receptionist and switchboard operator for the Maytag Company. In 1957, she married Richard L. Hofmann and soon after, they moved to Lincoln, Neb. She continued her career working as chief operator for the Lincoln Journal-Star until her retirement.

She is survived by her husband; two sisters, Arlene Rundall of Newton and Maxine Benson of Cedar Rapids; a brother Roy L. "Bud" Still Jr.and his wife Joyce of Hixon, Tenn.; and many neices, nephews and their families.

She was preceeded in death by her parents and brother, Harold L. Still.
