KELLOGG — S. Jeanne Hinshaw, 89, of Kellogg died Sunday, May 8, 2005, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Merle Smith, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center in Newton, officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will also greet friends immediately after the funeral service and prior to going to the cemetery.

The daughter of Edward and Sarah Jane (Wood) Auten, she was born Sept. 22, 1915, in Perry. She attended Kellogg schools and was a graduate of Newton Senior High School in 1934. On Jan. 2, 1935, she married Harold L. "Bill" Hinshaw in Laurel. She was a receptionist for the Newton Telephone Company and later at Midwest Manufacturing Company in Kellogg. She was a member of National Campers and Hikers Association. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper County and lived in Newton and Kellogg.

She is survived by a son, William L. (Rosie) Hinshaw of Marion; a daughter, Judy (Alvin) Cooper of Kellogg; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, L.E. Auten of Newton and Dick Mason of Mishawaka, Ind.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; son, Mike Hinshaw; a grandson; three brothers, Jack, Jay and Merle Auten; and a sister, Catherine Collins.
