TUCSON, Ariz. — Orval "Slim" Hagen, 87, of Tucson, Ariz., former Newton police officer, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at his home.

Services were held in Tucson.

He was born in 1918 in Davidson, Saskatchewan, Canada. He married Lucinda Hodges in 1946 in Grinnell. He worked for a few years as a police officer in Newton and also had a radio program on KCOB. They moved to Tucson in 1958, where he worked as an attendance officer for Sunnyside School District for 23 years before retiring.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Martin and Jean and Darrell Kupelian; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Carol Hagen; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three brothers-in-law, Joe and Doug Hodges of Newton and Larry Hodges of Sheridan, Wyo.; and many nieces and nephews.
