MONROE — Roberta E. "Bobbi" Ford, 53 of Monroe, died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A memorial service was held at the First United Methodist Church in Monroe Monday. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe handled arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the Monroe Fire Department's Rescue Unit.

The daughter of Harold and Myra (Valentine) Rankin, she was born at her parents' home near Knoxville on April 27, 1952. Growing up in Monroe, she graduated from Monroe High School in 1970. At that time, she began her collegiate studies at Northeast Missouri State University now Truman State University). Following her time there, she continued her studies at Ottumwa Heights College.

She enjoyed bowling and golfing. She cared for her grandchildren for more than four months during their parents' tours of duty overseas.

Survivors include two daughters, Melissa (Tobias) Moriset and Ashleigh Ford, both of Monroe; two grandchildren; and nine siblings, Darlene Palm of Bondurant, Judy (Alfred) Brumgardt of Newton, Faye (Larry) Nicholson of Knoxville, Shirlee (Tom) Cabera of Mason City, Chuck (Theresa) Rankin of Monroe, Margaret (Phil) Ball of Avinger, Texas, Jerald (Celeste) Rankin of Knoxville, Dean (Janice) Rankin of Pella and Carolyn Rankin of Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
