Glenn Dee, 88, of Baxter, died Friday, February 4, 2005, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Services will be held at: 1:30 P.M. on Monday, February 7, 2005 at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ with Reverend Rollin Watters officiating. Private family burial will follow services at the Restland Cemetery in Baxter. Pursel-Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown is handling arrangements.

Visitation times are: 5:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 6, 2005 at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ where Glenn’s family will be present to greet friends. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hospice of Jasper County or the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ.

Glenn was born March 3, 1916 in rural Jasper County, Iowa the son of August and Sarah Louisa (Klein) Dee. He was raised and educated in rural Marshall County where he attended the Eden #6 Country School. Glenn was married to Nadine Hazel Schmidt on December 25, 1935 in Baxter, Iowa. Glenn and his wife Nadine farmed for several years and also raised Certified Angus Cattle. Glenn and Nadine moved to rural Bondurant in Polk County in February of 1952 and lived there 37 years before moving back to Baxter in 1989.

Glenn was a member of the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ for over 73 years and also served in several capacities at the Santiago Methodist Church in rural Mitchellville during his time in Bondurant. Glenn was also a member of the American Angus Association, the Hackney Association, a charter member of the Polk County Extension Service, the Board of Trustees for Franklin Township and the Polk County Farm Bureau where he was served on the board of directors. Glenn helped to establish the Polk County Rural Water Association, and was an assistant 4-H leader. Glenn worked in the “Pit BBQ” at the Iowa State Fair with the Polk County Beef Producers for over 25 years.

Glenn is survived by his wife Nadine of Baxter, his three brothers: Lloyd (Elizabeth) Dee of Baxter, Everett Dee & LaVonne Hunter of Mingo, Darrell (Shirley) Dee of Baxter, his sister Lorene Dee Sabin of Baxter and several nieces and nephews.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ivan V. Dee, Leland Dee, Harold L. Dee and many special nieces and nephews.
