Judy A. De Hoedt, 59, of Newton died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Gary Marzolf of the Newton First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was at Newton Union Cemetery.

Memorials in her name may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of George and Margaret (Verwers) Ridgeway, she was born Sept. 25, 1945, in Newton. On Nov. 30, 1961, she married Clarence W. "Hoot" De Hoedt in Des Moines. She was the manager of the 1018 First Ave. E. Casey's General Store in Newton and a lifelong resident of Newton. She enjoyed all forms of car racing and was a member of TOPS, Ladies of the Moose and the Jasper County Women's Bowling Association.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter and son-in-law, Karla and Bruce Montgomery of Newton; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
