Sandra Lee Cupples, 44, of 195 Hickory St. in Newton died Sunday, March 20, 2005, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Newton with the Rev. Gary Marzolf officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call today after 3 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted in her name to Hospice of Jasper County, American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church Van Fund.

The daughter of Samuel Ivan and Leola Ardell (Kono) Tharp, she was born Nov. 7, 1960, in Newton. She graduated in 1979 from Newton Senior High School. On Aug. 14, 1986, she married Buddy J. Cupples at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. She was a homemaker and enjoyed making crafts and teaching at the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Zachory and Brandon Cupples of Newton; her parents of Newton; a sister, Coral Ann and Clifford Patterson of Duniphon, Mo.; two brothers, Perry and Terry Tharp of Palo; and many nieces and nephews.
