KELLOGG -- Doris Parker, 78, of Kellogg died Thursday, Feb. 12, at her home following a lengthy battle with cancer.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell with the Rev. Stephen Jasch officiating. Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will be available from 3 to 6 p.m.

The daughter of Harry and Wilhelmia Jochims Rehberg, she was born Dec. 8, 1925, in Malcom. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural school in Sheridan Township and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1943. She continued her education at Iowa Lutheran School of Nursing in Des Moines and received her RN certificate in January 1947. On June 15, 1947, she married Raymond Parker. They farmed in the rural Grinnell and Kellogg areas. She enjoyed cooking, canning, raising flowers, watching wildlife, hunting for mushrooms in the spring and helping her husband with the walnut business in the fall. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell.

Survivors include her husband; seven children and their spouses, Ronald and Diana Parker of Kensett, Larry and Debra Parker of Nevada, Deborah and Brad Hecker of Ankeny, Judith and Doug Smith of Grinnell, Joyce and Paul Cook of Solon, Marcia and Kendall Thompson of Decorah and Pamela and Bob Ashing of Grinnell; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; and four sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Linda.
