CEDAR FALLS -- Norma Sylvia Miller, 101, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Newton, died of heart failure Wednesday, Feb. 11, in Cedar Falls.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Cindy Jean Saul of the United Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials will be accepted in her name to the United Presbyterian Church.

The daughter of Frederick Simon and Anna (Stolzman) Hotger, she was born Jan. 15, 1903, in rural Jasper County. She attended rural schools. On Aug. 15, 1932, she married William Arthur Miller in Newton. She was a homemaker and did housecleaning.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Newton and a member of the church ladies "Clover Leaf Class." She enjoyed quilting, tatting, embroidering, sewing and gardening.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dale Arthur and Ruth Lavonne Miller of Newton; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Lee Trotter-McDonald and Gary A. McDonald of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six sisters, Anna Hotger, Florence Danforth, Gladys Damman, Ruby Rueter, Marie Powell and Irene Zickle; four brothers, Lloyd, Roy, Glen and Clarence Hotger; a son-in-law, John Richard Trotter; and a grandson.
