DUNKERTON -- Doris J. McKeever, 78, of Dunkerton, formerly of Newton, died Saturday, Jan. 3, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at McKeever Cemetery in rural Colfax.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. Friday until the time of the service. Memorials will be accepted in her name and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Tom J. and Eva C. (Nelson) Price, she was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Colfax. On March 11, 1942, she married William H. McKeever in Colfax. She was a homemaker, baby-sat and took care of the elderly in their home. She enjoyed music, especially Elvis, and enjoyed watching TV. She grew up in Colfax, lived in Maynard from 1994 to 1997, lived in Newton from 1960 to 1994, and was a resident of Dunkerton.

She is survived by a son, Robert McKeever of Pella; a daughter, Joan (McKeever) Jarvis of Spokane, Wash.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray Price of Long Prairie, Minn., Bob and Effie Price of Bussey and Norm and Carole Price of Newton; two sisters, Virginia Janssens of LeClaire and Beverly Cullings of Exira; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and five sisters.

Those left to honor Doris's memory are her son, Robert McKeever of Pella, Iowa; daughter, Joan McKeever Jarvis of Spokane, Washington; her 5 grandchildren, DeAnna "Dee" McKeever Mixdorf and her husband, Chad, James Jarvis, Jeffrey Jarvis, Michael Jarvis, and Jennifer McKeever; 6 grandchildren; her 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray Price of Long Prairie, Minnesota, Bob and Effie Price of Bussey, Iowa, and Norm and Carole Price of Newton, Iowa; 2 sisters, Virginia Janssens of LeClaire, Iowa and Beverly Cullings of Exira, Iowa; and her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William H. in 1969, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters.

Doris was a homemaker and did babysitting and took care of the elderly in her home.
