Dan Dale Jensen, 87, of Newton died Saturday, Jan. 31 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Newton, with the Rev. Howard Vrankin officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery's Veterans Section. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from noon to 3 p.m. at the funeral home and continues at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. where the family will be present. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church, Izaak Walton League in Newton or to the Elks Lodge.

Dan was born Nov. 16, 1917 in Newton, the son of Herman H. Jensen and Lena Reckler Jensen. He was united in marriage to Bernadette McDermott on Dec. 11, 1945, in Des Moines. He was a farmer and a member of the Elks Lodge in Newton, the Izaak Walton League, Emerson Hough Chapter, the First Lutheran Church, the Farm Bureau and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

He is survived by his wife; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dale Jensen of Baxter and Doug and Sherry Jensen of Newton; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
