Donna J. Hunter, 70, of 1426 First Ave. E., formerly of Kellogg, died of heart failure Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A time of celebration will be held at 1:30 Saturday at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with Rev. Jill C. Flyr, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Colfax officiating. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery in Colfax, Iowa.

The daughter of Llewllyn and Lorena (Smith) Triplett, she was born Feb. 19, 1933, in Loan Pine, Neb. A longtime resident of the Poweshiek and Jasper county areas, she attended school in Poweshiek County. She was employed by the Maytag Company in Newton and retired from Smith & Jones, as a press operator in the late 1980's

On Nov. 22, 1958, she married Wilbur Nelson Hunter in Montezuma. They lived in Grinnell, Colfax and Kellogg prior to Donna moving to Newton in 2003. She enjoyed her family, gardening, flowers, the outdoors, feeding and watching the birds in her yard.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Norman "Bick" and Linda Hunter of Grinnell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Lonnie Duncan of Newton, Kayleen and Dean Alter of Kellogg and Robin and Ken Bryan of Lineville; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barb Gilliland of Searsboro and Betty Phipps of California; and many neighbors and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant son, Rodney; a grandson; two granddaughters; a great-granddaughter; a great-grandson; two sisters, Ruth and Bobbette; and five brothers, Robert, Raymond, Ronald, Roland and Joe Triplett.
