Donna Jean (Stevens) Hawkins, 55, of Newton died of complications of surgery Friday, Jan. 16, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Bill Patton officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in her name.

The daughter of Clarence and Vivian (Hood) Stevens, she was born Oct. 13, 1948, in Newton. She attended Newton schools. On Dec. 7, 1968, she married Michael Hawkins in Newton. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, sewing, flowers, collecting butterflies, gardening, traveling and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper County.

Survivors include her husband; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Maria Stevens of Kellogg and Roger and Roberta Stevens of Newton; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dixie and Buford Isaac of Grinnell and Sharon Gragg of Newton; her father of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother; sister, Della Coady; and three brothers, Donald, Lester and Ronald.
