MONROE -- Irene T. Farver, 90, of Monroe died Sunday, Jan. 4, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Poe officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the Irene Farver Memorial Fund.

The daughter of Huron H. and Ida Belle (Timmons) Price, she was born Aug. 29, 1913, in Prairie City. She graduated from Prairie City High School. On Sept. 8, 1930, she married Arnold Farver in Newton. A lifelong resident of the area, she enjoyed making candy and pies and enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and rodeos.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joann and Keith Datwyler of Peru; five sons, Jack and his wife, Shirley of Winterset, Merlin "Moe" and his wife Marilyn of Newton, Robert and his wife Mary of Mission, Texas, Huron Lyle and his wife Peggy of Monroe and Roger and his friend Deb Heyveld, also of Monroe; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Sparks of Colfax; and a brother, Hubert Price of Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Lyle, and a great-grandson.
