PELLA -- Emma L. Dieleman, 96, of Pella died Monday, Feb. 23, at Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Third Reformed Church in Pella with the Rev. Kevin Korver officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Pella. Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella is handling arrangements.
Friends may call today at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Pella Comfort House.

The daughter of Marinus and Mary (Hoksbergen) Van Haaften, she was born Jan. 2, 1908, north of Pella. On Jan. 14, 1931, she married Elmer Dieleman in Sully. The early years of their marriage were spent farming in the Sandridge area northeast of Pella. The family moved to rural New Sharon in 1941, where they farmed and raised their family. In 1974, they retired and moved to Pella.

Mrs. Dieleman attended Sandridge School through the eighth grade. She enjoyed reading and writing, crocheting, quilting and gardening. She was a member of Third Reformed Church, Willing Workers Club, Central College Auxiliary and the Ladies Aid Society.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Carolyn Dieleman of Pella, Merle and Peggy Dieleman of Bettendorf and Ed and Marcia Dieleman of Oskaloosa; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law and his wife, Marion and Treva Dieleman of Pella; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Van Haaften of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter and son-in-law, Wilma and Chester Terpstra; two sisters, Josie Groenendyk and Minnie Vos; and five brothers, Louis, Arie, Roy, Henry and Lester Van Haaften.
