Dale Lee Constant, 76, of Newton died Friday, Jan. 2, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

The son of Timothy and Faye Constant, he was born in Chillicothe, Mo. As a young man, he moved to Waterloo, where he married Ruth Slaughter. She preceded him in death in 1979. On April 5, 1986, he married Bonnetta J. Johnson in Pella. He was an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance in the Newton and Waterloo areas. He owned Constant's Motel and Mobile Home Park in Newton.

Mr. Constant enjoyed woodworking, crafts, hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnetta; four daughters, Della Constant of Newton, Glenda Bowerman of Knoxville, Tammy Vanden Berg of Knoxville and Vicki Johnson of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and a son.
