COLFAX -- Mary Cardenzana, 88, of Colfax died Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax, with Rev. Philip Cardenzana and Rev. Mr. Joe Dvorak officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Visitation will be held Friday after noon at the church, and the family will greet friends from 6 until 8 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. and a Vigil Service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Jasper County or to the church. Walters Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Cardenzana was born Aug. 17, 1915 in Monroe County, the daughter of Angelo and Angelina Simonetto Toigo. She was united in marriage to John Cardenzana in 1938 in Georgetown, Iowa. She lived most of her life in Monroe County, moving to Colfax in 1998. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church while in Albia and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax. She also was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was very proud of receiving her GED in 1966.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Jerry Weber of Eldridge; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Rev. Philip Cardenzana of Colfax, John and Jane Cardenzana of Ottumwa, James and Sheryl Cardenzana of Reeds Spring, Mo., and Stephen and Janet Cardenzana of Rogers, Ark.; and ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Clarence and John; and two sisters, Antoinette Pellin and Villa Tiogo.
