Ruth I. Butler, 85, of 200 S. Eighth Ave. E. died Saturday, Feb. 21, at USA Healthcare-Newton.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted in her name and may be left at the funeral home.

She was born Dec. 6, 1918, in Kellerton. She married Ira Kooker. She later married Homer Butler in 1963 in Des Moines. She was a homemaker and enjoyed going on bus tours, playing bingo and cards and enjoyed listening to music.

Survivors include a step-son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Marilyn Butler of Newton; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cleo Nelson of Lorimor.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; a son, Phil Kooker; a daughter, Barbara Kooker; and a brother and three sisters.
