Elvin A. Hardenbrook

Elvin A. “Stub” Hardenbrook, 59, of 503 E. 14th St. N., a lifelong resident of Newton, died Sunday morning, June 24, at his home of a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Jerry Brown, senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Tuesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Norinne; two daughters, Jane (Mrs. Jim) Hiemstra and Carol (Mrs. Carlo C.) Supino, both of Newton; a granddaughter; a sister, Lela (Mrs. Dan) Murphy of Newton;’ and four brothers, Cleo Hardenbrook of Colfax and Lester Hardenbrook, Dan Hardenbrook and Paul Hardenbrook, all of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Walter and Edward.

Mr. Hardenbrook, who had worked in assembly at the Maytag Co., was retired.

The son of Evan M. and Meta L. Bunse Hardenbrook, he was born Oct. 3, 1930 in Newton and was a 1949 graduate of Newton Community High School.

He was married to Norinne Shepherd Feb. 7, 1952 in Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton Iowa, June 24, 1990.

Elvin A. Hardenbrook of Newton, a Maytag retiree, died of a heart attack Sunday at his home. He was 59.

First working for the company in 1949, Hardenbrook began continuous service in 1952. He worked in automatic assembly, machining and porcelain.

Survivors include his wife, Norinne; two daughters, Jane Hiemstra, wife of Jim, automatic assembly, and Carol Supino, both of Newton; and four brothers: Dan, a Maytag retiree, Lester and Paul, all of Newton; and Cleo of Colfax.
