Delia Meeks Butler, 83, formerly of Newton, died of heart failure Monday, Jan. 26, at Baxter Healthcare Center in Baxter.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton with the Rev. Gene Bryant of First Christian Church in Newton officiating. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

The daughter of Vern Longern and Minnie Pearl Chapman, she was born Nov. 26, 1920, near Metz. She worked in the machine shop at Maytag Company for 30 years and was a former member of the Ikettes and Ladies of the Moose Lodge. She was a member of First Christian Church in Newton.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Darlene Meeks of Colfax; one grandson; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Loren Meeks and Lloyd Butler; and two sisters and one brother.
