Rosemary Evelyn Beukema, 82, of Newton died Sunday, Jan. 4.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, Newton.

Visitation will be 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family suggests memorial to First United Methodist Church or Park Centre Retirement Community.

The daughter of Lawrence and Florence (Cody) Millisack, she was born April 22, 1921, in Ottumwa. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1939 and worked as a legal secretary until her marriage. On June 20, 1948, she married Byron Beukema in Newton. She was a homemaker, a community volunteer and assisted her husband with the office operation of Beukema's Angus Farm for more than forty years.

Mrs. Beukema was a member of Clio Club, 20th Century Club, Kiwanis Queens, Chapter AO of PEO, Rebekah Circle in the United Methodist Women's organization and the First United Methodist Church. She served as board secretary on the Park Centre Residents' Association Board and co-chairperson of the Good Samaritan Fund for Park Centre. Her passion was art. She donated her artistic talents to many community organizations including her church. She had recently conceptualized and directed the art room at Park Centre in Newton.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Harms of Rockville, Md., Susan Blakely of Urbandale and Pamela Hulme of Denver, Colo.,; four grandchildren; and special friend, Fred Mathias of Newton.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
