Elise M. (Tiedje) Wise, 94, of 500 First Street North died Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Park Centre in Newton.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Newton with the Rev. Linda Butler officiating. A private family burial will be held at Newton Union Cemetery. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service in the fellowship hall, at the church with a coffee time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Luke United Methodist Church, Jasper County Historical Museum or to the donor's choice and may be left at the church the day of the service or at the funeral home.

The daughter of John and Grace (Watt) Tiedje, she was born Sept. 9, 1909, in rural Newton. She was a 1927 graduate of Newton Senior High School. On March 23, 1929, she married Edward J. Wise in Des Moines. She was a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, charter member of the Jasper County Historical Society and served on the board of directors. She was a 50-year member of Oak Ridge Grange and organized the Atomic Starlets and the Ridge Road Ramblers 4-H Clubs. She was a past 4-H leader and served on the

Jasper County Committee, member and past officer of chapter HS P.E.O., member of the Skiff Medical Center Auxiliary, 60-year member of the Lucky Deuce Bridge Club, and she enjoyed other bridge groups. She also was a past member of Kiwanis Kweens and Oak Ridge Homemakers.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jere and Sue Wise of Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Ken Schnell of Newton; five grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; a sister, Jeannette Ferguson of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Quentin Tiedje and a sister, Florence (Tiedje) Hagedorn.
