MITCHELLVILLE -- Walter Ray Wing, 84, of Mitchellville died Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Colfax. Burial will be at McKeever Cemetery. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.

Friends may call today after 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted to the First Baptist Church.

The son of Walter and Anna (Ferguson) Wing, he was born Oct. 5, 1919, in La Platte, Mo. On Sept. 27, 1941, he married Gladys Taylor in Missouri. He was a farmer, a member and a past deacon and trustee of First Baptist Church of Colfax. He also was a former member of Colfax Kiwanis Club and former board member of Mitchellville Co-op Elevator Co. He was a resident of Colfax for many years and a resident of Mitchellville the past three years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Janice Wing of Colfax and Donald and Shelly Wing of Apple Valley, Calif.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl and Bruce McWilliams of Altoona and Janet and Jim Gould of Apple Valley, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Loren and Mildred Wing of Colfax, Gale and Leona Wing of Prairie City and Jack and Marge Wing of Winter Park, Fla.; and one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Stanton Metcalf of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
