GRINNELL - Mary E. Wagaman, 85, of Grinnell, formerly of Lynnville, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Lynnville Friends Church. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville.

Visitation will be held from 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell where the family will be present from 3 to 5 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the Lynnville Historical Society.

The daughter of Fred and Alverta (Sparks) Ratliff, she was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Lynnville. She was raised in Lynnville and was a 1935 graduate of Lynnville High School. She later received her teaching certificate from Central College in Pella. She taught school for several years in Laurel, Eldora and later Grinnell.

On Jan. 13, 1941, she married Warner H. "Huck" Wagaman in Lancaster, Mo., and the couple made their home in Lynnville. They moved to Mesa, Ariz., in 1983 and later to Grinnell in 2002. She was a member of the Lynnville Friends Church and Lynnville Women's Club arid was active with Girls Scouts and the Lynnville Centennial Committee.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Carol Davis of Parkland, Fla.; one grandson; and two sisters, Nadine Ratcliff of Monroe and Ilene Brush of Lynnville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dale Ratliff.
