ANKENY -- Mabel A. (Boot) Vos, 97, of Ankeny, formerly of Arizona, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Mill Pond in Ankeny.

The body has been cremated and memorial services will be held at a later date. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

The daughter of John J. and Dirkie Van Zante Boot, she was born December 25, 1905, in Sully. She was educated in area schools and attended Central Academy in Pella following high school. She was united in marriage to Lester J. Vos on Feb. 3, 1927, and the couple spent most of their married lives in Arizona. She has resided in Ankeny the past four years. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and time spent with family.

She is survived by six children, Donald L. Vos and his wife Kay of Centerville; Dorothy Jean Vander Leest and Elmer Crumbliss of Rogers, Ark.; Luverne V. James of Altoona; Freda Farwell of Des Moines; Antoinette M. Noe, of Ankeny; and Jay C. and Barb Vos of Runnells; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, a step-grandchild; and two sisters, Edna Van Zee of Prairie City and Ellen Donelson of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lester; a son, John Robert; two grandsons, a great granddaughter; a sister, Ruth Haverkamp; and two brothers, David and Raymond Boot.
