KELLOGG - Hoyt Keith Veber, 82, of Kellogg died of heart failure Friday, Nov. 7, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 3 p. m. at the Elks Lodge Grand Ballroom in Newton with the Rev. Mike Johnson of the Carlisle Christian Church officiating. A private family burial will be held.

There will be no visitation. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Per his wishes, the family requests no flowers be sent. Memorials will be accepted to the Kellogg Historical Society.

The son of Verne and Mabel (Holmdahl) Veber, he was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Grinnell. He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1943. He also graduated from AIB and Iowa State University. On Nov. 11, 1943, he married Wilma Arlene Graham in California. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for Midwest Metal Stamping Company in Kellogg and was vice president and chairman of the board from 1961 to 1970. He was the sales manager for Dealers Warehouse Company in Newton from 1973 until 1986 when he retired. From 1987 to 2000 he worked part time for REEP Inc. in Baxter.

Mr. Veber was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church, Elks Lodge, Ikes Lodge and enjoyed golf.

Survivors include his life partner, Dee Snook of Newton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Becky Veber of Winchester, Ill., and Will and Cindy Veber of Davenport; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Nancy and Vic Geiger of Prospect, Ky., Cindy White of Phoenix, Ariz., Elizabeth "Buff" Veber of Mitchellville and Julie and Terry Rose of Lambs Grove; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister, June (Veber) Mulford.
