Steven P. Suter, 55, of 415 N. 4th Ave. died of cancer at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Mike Conley of Des Moines officiating. Burial will be held at Rock Valley Cemetery in Rock Valley at a later date. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 8 pm. Memorials will be accepted to the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Merle E. and Agnes (Talsma) Suter, he was born Jan. 20, 1947, in LeMars. He graduated from Rock Valley High School in 1965 and attended San Diego City College in San Diego, Calif. He grew up in Rock Valley, lived in San Diego for 18 years and lived in Newton for the last eight years. Mr. Suter served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was a factory worker at Pella Corporation in Pella. He was a member of the VFW and DAV.

Survivors include a son, David J. Suter of Newton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Charlene Suter of Wenatchee, Wash., John E. and Marian Suter of Richfield, Minn., David J. and Marcella Suter of Rock Valley; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Aurelia and Richard De
Young of Tea, S. D., Alta and Richard Gaidan of Newton, Mary and Craig Mehlhaff of Aberdeen, S. D., and Minnetta and Eric Suter-Seaburg of Germantown, Tenn., and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and maternal and paternal grandparents.
