PRAIRIE CITY - Joy L. Stravers, 99, of Prairie City died Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Heritage Manor in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City with the Rev. Doug Dobbie officiating. Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery.

Friends may call today after 2 p.m. at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the First Reformed Church.

The daughter of John and Myrtle (Reese) Boatwright, she was born April 9, 1904, in Mitchellville. On Dec. 20, 1922, she married Edward Stravers. She was a lifelong resident of the area, was a member of the First Reformed Church and enjoyed crocheting and reading her Bible.

Survivors include a son, Laurence Stravers and his wife Betty Jean of Prairie City; two daughters, Betty Jean Howse and her husband Thomas of Petal, Miss., and Beverly Elrod and her husband Oliver of Prairie City; 12 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 37 great -great -grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ada Clymer of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two great-grandsons; three brothers and one sister.
