SPRING BRANCH, Texas -- Helen (Schoondyke) Strange, 89, of Spring Branch, Texas, formerly of Newton, died Friday, Nov. 21.

A memorial service was held Saturday at Chapel in the Cove in Spring Branch, Texas.

The daughter of George and Minnie Wade, she was born June 13, 1914, in Carlisle. She lived in Des Moines, Colfax and Newton. She worked as Deputy Clerk of Court for Jasper County for 23 years. She married Dale Strange of Denver, Colo., on Feb. 20, 1972. They moved to Spring Branch, Texas, in 1976.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Strange; daughter-in-law, Betty Schoondyke, of Windsor Heights; a sister, Marjorie Griffin, of Newton; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four nephews and nieces; and several great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Schoondyke and a sister, Iva Wilson.
