Vernell H. Stone, 85, of 200 S. 8th Ave. E. died Friday, Nov. 7, at USA Healthcare in Newton.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Union Hill Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Ark.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Tuesday at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Ark. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Roller- McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Ark., is handling arrangements. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling local arrangements.

Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County or the USA Healthcare Courtyard Project and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Frank and Oda (Jobe) Henry, she was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Conway, Ark. She grew up in White County, Ark., prior to moving to Newton in 1951. On May 31, 1939, she married Clarence L. Stone in White County, Ark. She worked in the factory of the Maytag Company for 28 years and retired in 1980. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her greatgreat-grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and embroidering. She was a UAW Local 997 Retirees Union member.

Surviving her are a son, Clarence L. Stone Jr. of Newton; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Jack Phipps of Kellogg; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great -grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and a sister.
