Vera Lucille Ross, 82, formerly of Newton died of congestive heart failure Sunday, Nov. 23, at Winterset Care Center South in Winterset.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Gene Bryant of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted in her name.

The daughter of Phillip and Margaret (Behrens) Berbaum, she was born June 27, 1921, in Cameron, Mo. She attended rural schools in Cameron. On June 30, 1954, she married Edward A. Ross in Altoona. She lived in Newton, Des Moines, Killduff, and moved to Winterset in 1995 to be near her niece and nephew. She was a homemaker and nurse's aide for Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Mrs. Ross was a member of the Newton First Christian Church.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Fern Bookout of Newton, Wilma Henson and James Wright, both of Winterset, and Robert Wright of New York.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Marie Wright.
