SULLY -- Gladys Renaud, 79, of Sully died Thursday, Dec. 4, at Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella.

Funeral services were held Monday at the First Reformed Church in Sully with the Rev. Roger Punt officiating and the Rev. Brice Hoyt assisting. Burial was at Sully Cemetery. Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella handled arrangements.

Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Pella or "Words of Hope" radio ministry broadcast.

The daughter of John and Maggie (Brand) Elscott, she was born April 21, 1924, near Taintor. She was educated in the Cast Country Grade School near Taintor. On Jan. 14, 1943, she married James Roscoe Renaud in Oskaloosa. Following their marriage, James and Gladys farmed near Taintor until 1951 when they purchased a farm southeast of Searsboro. They continued living there until 1985 at which time they moved into Sully. Although living in Sully, James still continued farming. Gladys was homemaker and enjoyed taking care of their home. She found pleasure in mowing the lawn and in later years she and James enjoyed attending local sporting events and various gospel singing events. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sully.

Survivors include her husband; five children and their spouses, Marvin E. and Nancy Renaud of Grinnell, LaVerne R. and Nancie Renaud of Albia, Elaine and Arie Scholten of Sully, Keith D. and Glenda Renaud of Lynnville and Dennis L. and Melanie Renaud of Searsboro; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; four sisters and a husband, Jennie and Harold Geurts of Sully, Ellen and Francis Van Zante, Grace and Joyhn H. Renaud, Irene and Chadwick Ver Ploeg, all of Pella; a sister-in-law, Verna and Glen Elscott of Sully; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, her parents, two brothers, Elmer Elscott and Glen Elscott; three brothers-in-law; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
