PRAIRIE CITY -- Larry Virl Nine, 56, of Prairie City died Saturday, Nov. 29, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Prairie City United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Poe officiating. Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is handling arrangements. Memorials will be accepted to Taylor House Hospice.

The son of Virl and Eva (Tidball) Nine, he was born Dec. 29, 1946, in Sweet Home, Ore. He was a graduate of East High School in Des Moines. On Aug. 9, 1997, he married Theresa (Sowden) Housley. He was a long-time resident of Ottumwa and moved to Prairie City in 1997. He was a welder and machinist for the VerMeer Company.

Survivors include his wife; Theresa "Betty" of Prairie City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Shawn and Vicki Housley of Prairie City and Scott and Teri Housley of Ottumwa; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Howard and Charlie McChesney, both of Holiday, Fla.; his mother, Eva McChesney of Palmeto, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter, Rene Nine and a son, Brian Housley.
