Jerald Heck, 65, of Pleasantville, formerly of Newton, died Friday, Dec. 26, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville. Visitation began at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in Jasper County.

Memorials will be accepted to the Pleasantville Fire & Rescue Units or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Heck was born and raised in Knoxville and had lived in Newton for about 20 years before moving to the Pleasantville area in 1972. He farmed and was retired from Maytag.

Survivors include his wife, Alyce; a daughter, Renee Rockwell of Urbandale; three sons, Jerry of Pleasantville, Jim of Knoxville and Tim of Altoona; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his sister, Shirley Sheaffer of Tonganoxie, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Steve.
