Lorren L. Hardenburgh, 92, of 1802 S. 7th Ave. E., formerly of Baxter, died of complications of congestive heart failure Monday, Jan. 6, at his home.

Private family graveside services will be held at Newton Union Cemetery at a later date with Pastor Gene Bucklin of the Baxter Evangelical Free Church in Baxter officiating. The body has been cremated. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

The family will greet friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County or to the donor's choice and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Roy C. and Elizabeth (Gruhlkey) Hardenburgh, he was born Aug. 16, 1910, in Jasper County. On Nov. 2, 1935, he married H. June Townsend in Newton. He was a carpenter and owned and operated his own construction business. He retired in the early 1990s. He lived in Denver, Colo., from 1970 to 1987 and was a former resident of Baxter and Prairie City. He lived in Newton for the last four weeks. Mr. Hardenburgh was an antique tool collector.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Roy Hardeburgh of Yorba Linda, Calif.; two daughters sons-in-law, Patricia Schermerhorn of Almont, N. D., and Mary Beth and David Bucklin of Baxter; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Marian Hardenburgh of Casey; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
