Quintin K. Elliott, 79, of 500 First Street North in Newton died Monday, Nov. 17, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 220 N. 2nd Ave. E. in Newton, with the Rev. Stephen Mathison-Bowie officiating. The body has been cremated. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Newton Union Cemetery. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service with a fellowship time at the church. Memorials will be accepted to the First Presbyterian Church or to the donor's choice and may be left at the church the day of the service or sent to Charlotte Elliott, 500 1st St. N., Apt. 215, Newton, 50208.

The son of Charles and Lillian (King) Elliott, he was born March 1, 1924, in Streator, Ill. He was a graduate of Streator High School and of the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill. On Aug. 16, 1952, he married Charlotte E. Parker in Oakland. He was a farmer and retired in 1986. They farmed in Streator, Ill., for eight years, before they purchased a farm northwest of Newton. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and held many offices. He also was a member of the Newton Community School Board from 1973 to 1979, served in the Poweshiek-Jasper Farm Service Board for 18 years and served on the Hawkeye Mutual Insurance board for 27 years. He lived in the Newton area since 1960.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Norman and Debbie Elliott and Philip Elliott, all of Newton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Dave Willemsen of Monroe and Karen and Justin Richmond of Aurora, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers and a sister.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
