GRINNELL -- Grace Geraldine Metz Elliott, 52, of Grinnell died Wednesday, Dec. 24, at USA Healthcare in Newton.

Two memorial services will be held. The first will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Community Heights Alliance Church, 1000 E. 12th St. S. in Newton, with Assistant Pastor Syd McCrorey officiating. Another service will be held on Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Northside Evangelical Methodist Church in Grinnell with Pastor Joshua Johnson officiating.

Her body has been cremated. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Rock Creek Cemetery in rural Kellogg. No visitation is scheduled. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Community Heights Alliance Church Building Fund or to the Northside Evangelical Methodist Church Building Fund and may be left at one of the churches on the day of the service or at the funeral home.

The daughter of Clifford E. and Eva D. Wolcott Metz, she was born Oct. 4, 1951, in Grinnell. She graduated from BGM High School in Brooklyn and Vannard College in University Park. She was raised on her family's farm at Holiday Lake in Brooklyn before moving to Grinnell in the mid-1970s.

On April 12, 1985, she married Kenton Elliott in Grinnell. She taught at a Christian school in New Jersey for one year and taught at a reservation school in Cottonwood, Ariz., for one year. She was the activities director and administrative assistant at Friendship Manor for 10 years. She worked at Home Child Care for 10 years and then worked as a clerk at Fareway in Grinnell for four years.

She was a member of Community Heights Alliance Church and an associate member of Northside Evangelical Methodist Church in Grinnell. She was also a Sunday school teacher, youth leader and chairman of women's activities at Community Heights Alliance Church.

Survivors include her husband; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Eda Mae Metz of Galesburg, Fla.; two nieces; two nephews; and an aunt and uncle.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
