WICKENBURG, Ariz. –H. Donald Dodge, 89, of Wickenburg, Ariz., formerly of Newton, died of an illness related to cancer.

The body was cremated and there will be graveside services Thursday at 10 a.m. at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton with the Rev. Tiare Mathison-Bowie officiating. Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

The son of James and Myrtle Dodge, he was born in Newton. He graduated from Newton Senior High School and Iowa State University. He received many awards as a quarter horse rider and trainer. A horse's bit was named after him and he was a horse show judge. Mr. Dodge resided in California, Texas and Arizona.

Survivors include a cousin, Lenore Aillaud Skow of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
