LtCol John P. Deutsch, Air Force and native of Newton, passed away at noon, Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at Arbor Terrace, Jacksonville, Fla.

LtCol Deutsch was the son of Cecil and Hortense Deutsch of Newton, predeceased. He is survived by two sons, Aaron of Albany, N.Y., and Michael of Santa Fe, N.M.; grandchildren, Hunter, Aryanna, Walter, Harriet and Frederick; brothers, Leonard of Winter Haven, Fla., and Robert of Cedar Rapids; sister, Catherine of Newton; and cousin, Sharon Wells of Waynesboro, Va.

Lt. Col. Deutsch will rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., following formal military services and mass in Arlington. A commemorative memorial service, to be held in conjunction with the scheduling of the military services in Arlington, is being planned for early Fall 2021, at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa 26 Jan 2021.
